Club Fabric & Culture
Maccabi AJAX not only offers an opportunity for members to play cricket, but it also provides a fantastic social culture for members to enjoy. All players are encouraged to embrace this culture by getting involved with fundraising initiatives, attending social functions and maximising their enjoyment at the club.
Selection Night Dinners
Every fortnight (on Thursdays before each round), dinner will be held after training upstairs in the David Mandie Pavilion. All players are expected to stay back for a bite to eat, hear the captains review the past round’s performances, and hear the teams read out for the coming round of matches. In season 2007/08, all of these dinners will be kosher, thanks primarily to the sponsorship support from Glicks Bakery & Café as well as our other kosher sponsors and partners. Past players, partners and supporters are most welcome at any time throughout the season.
Saturday Post-Game
Players are strongly encouraged to head to the David Mandie Pavilion after each day’s play on a Saturday to enjoy a drink with your clubmates, regardless of whether you are playing home or away.
Fundraising
During season 2008/09, the club will again be trying to fundraise in order to offset the annual costs of running the club. Several events have been scheduled, including parties, poker nights and more. We hope all players get behind these and any other fundraising initiatives during the season. The Past Players Association (PPA) is also running again in 2007/08 and the annual Cygnet Cup Past Players Match & Family Day will again be held in February 2009, as well as other PPA events throughout the season.
Women's Committee
An MACC Women's Committee has been formed in season 2008/09, with its purpose being to provide an opportunity for players' wives and partners to socialise together while also supporting the club's fundraising initiatives.
