Klinger selected for Australia A against Sri Lanka
The Cricket Australia National Selection Panel (NSP) has announced the Australia one-day and Twenty20 squads for the VB Tour of The British Isles and VB Pakistan Series, as well as the Australia A squads for a series of four-day, one-day and Twenty20 matches against Sri Lanka A in Brisbane and Townsville.
Recently appointed South Australian skipper Michael Klinger has been selected in the Australia A team which will take on Sri Lanka A in two four-day matches in late June.
“With respect to Australia A, the NSP views this as an extremely important series of matches as Australia works to ensure its healthy position in world cricket in all three forms of the game," Chairman of Selectors Andrew Hildith said.
"As with recent seasons, we have taken the opportunity to reward the performance of some our more experienced players while blooding and giving further international exposure to our very promising young players who will be so important to Australia's future.
“The squads contain two players from the victorious Australia under-19 squad in Josh Hazelwood and Mitch Marsh who both have very exciting futures.
“The squads feature some very exciting young fast bowling talent in Josh Hazelwood, James Pattinson, Peter George and Mitchell Starc. It also includes the welcome return of Ben Hilfenhaus, giving him the opportunity to prove his fitness ahead of the Test series against Pakistan in England.
“The squad also recognises the high standard of performance of experienced players such as Michael Klinger and Ed Cowan and features some of our best young batting talent in the country, including captain George Bailey, Usman Khawaja, Peter Forrest and Mitch Marsh.
