New coach secured for Maccabi Ajax Cricket Club

Posted: 23-Jul-2017 by Cricket Senior

After two years, three premierships and shaping a legacy that has defined a new era for the Maccabi Ajax Cricket Club, Rowan Bricker has decided to step down from the head coaching role due to ongoing commitments in his professional life. Whilst we are saddened by Rowan’s departure we are incredibly appreciative of his achievements and tireless commitment to the club over many years and look forward to welcoming him back in both a playing and coaching capacity in the future.

We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Lal Jayasinghe to the position of Head Coach of the Senior Club, having joined the Maccabi Ajax Junior Club last year. Lal is a very experienced and passionate level 3 professional coach and was head coach of Hong Kong's national team for 14 years. Lal has also been heavily involved in Cricket Victoria's cricket pathways program and was recently a specialist coach with Premier club the Richmond Cricket Club.

Lal will continue to hold his role as the Director of coaching for the Maccabi Ajax Junior Cricket Club. This presents a great opportunity for both Lal and the club to help bring both the junior and senior squads closer together and offers a clear pathway for all our junior stars to play senior cricket within the Maccabi framework.

This is a wonderful appointment for the club and we look forward to working with Lal when pre-season commences on August 9. Stay tuned for more details!
